Our Plan of Execution
New Hope Baptist Church will Gather, Grow, Give, and Go... "in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him." - Colossians 1:10
GATHER- As Believers in Christ, we will worship corporately. Scripture is clear that Jesus died for the church (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 5:25) and that the church is His body (Romans 12:5; I Corinthians 10:17; 12:12-27; Ephesians 1:23; 4:12; 5:30; Colossians 1:18, 24; Hebrews 13:3). Participation in a local church is essential to the spiritual health of individual Christians. Gathering with the saints of God is a biblical mandate. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us not to give up meeting together. Gathering together for teaching, worship, and mutual edification is an indication of our love for the redeemed and a sign of our salvation to eternal life.
GROW- As Believers in Christ, we will grow in Christ. We are commanded in Scripture to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (II Peter 3:18). This growth is spiritual growth, growing in faith. To grow in grace is to mature as a Christian. It is God's grace that justifies and sanctifies us, and upon the Lord's return for His church, it will someday glorify us.
When we grow in Christ, our relationship with Him develops and deepens and when this happens, the more of Him will be seen in our lives. The Scriptures contain all the knowledge we will ever need to learn of God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.
GIVE- As Believers in Christ, we will give according to the Word of God. There are two things we own in this life. We own our time and we own our material goods. We know that God orders our day, but with the measure of free will He has given us, we determine what to do with the time we have. We have two ways to give. Giving of your time and talent is service. Giving your tithe or treasure is stewardship. Both are commanded and expected by God. Proverbs 11:25 says, "Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered." Luke reminded the early church in Acts 20:35 to "remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" As Christians we are to give in humble service and responsible stewardship.
GO- As Believers in Christ, we will go and make disciples. All Christians were given the mandate to go and make disciples in Matthew 28: 18-20. "And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of Father and Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'" As Christians we are to use our lives to lead others to follow Jesus.
